Intact Phospholipid and Quinone Biomarkers to Assess Microbial Diversity and Redox State in Microbial Mats

Abstract

Microbial mats are stratified microbial communities composed by highly inter-related populations and are some of the most productive ecosystems on Earth. In this work, we have studied intact polar lipids (IPLs) in a hypersaline phototrophic mat from the Ebro Delta, as well as the response of specific IPLs to environmental changes.
