A couple of weeks ago we said farewell to Matteo Agazzi, our Coral Genomics Technician, who has officially started a PhD in Germany. We will miss him a lot β€οΈ β thank you for the great science and the wonderful attitude you brought to the lab every single day!
Matteo joined us from the UniversitΓ degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca, where he completed both his BSc and MSc in Marine Sciences. During his time at the del Campo Lab he investigated the microbial diversity and transcriptomic features of Mediterranean soft corals to identify ideal zones for restoration projects β work that sits right at the heart of our mission to understand coral-microbe interactions and their role in coral resilience. He also represented the lab at the II Meeting of the Catalan Initiative for the Earth Biogenome Project, sharing updates on our coral genomics work.
His curiosity, dedication, field experience β from the Maldives to Bali to Singapore β and infectious enthusiasm leave a lasting mark on the del Campo Lab.
Best of luck on this exciting new chapter, Matteo β we know you will do great things! πͺΈπ¦ π§¬
